Review of My Writing Job

Recently, I started looking around to increase my work load and one of the places I checked out was Mywritingjob.com. Most people who are looking for work in the freelance industry have seen this site. If you have done any research you will find that it does not live up to its advertising. I checked out a few reviews but wanted to see for myself so I went ahead and purchased a subscription.

Here is what they promise :

  • 1000s of job postings - This is true they do have 1000s of job postings
  • A small one time free ranging from $34-$68 depending on when you join

Here's what their advertising leads you to believe

  • the job postings are theirs
Here's the truth

  • They pull jobs from several different websites, Elance, Odesk, Freelancer, Craigslist and they put it all together in one single list. So yes, they are providing you with 1000s of available jobs but none of them are theirs.
  • The websites they pull jobs from do not require you pay a membership fee to work the jobs.
In other words, they are charging you a free to get a job list of jobs that are available free on the web. They are not offering you anything special or different than what you are most likely already doing as a freelancer. In order to apply for the jobs off websites such as freelance.com and Elance you have to create an account anyway so it simply adds an additional step that you are charged for

After trying it out I decided to make use of their refund policy because honestly, if I'm going to pay that much money I'd rather spend it on getting extra bids or taking the qualification tests that the other sites require you to take.

I sent several emails over a two week period. I got absolutely no response from any of them and no refund. Finally, I went to Paypal and filed a dispute stating that I'd requested a refund and had been ignored. I did get the refund very quickly after that.

If you are new to the industry or you want to have a concentrated list that has everyone's jobs on it, then you may want to consider this site. Personally, I think it was a total rip off since I visit all these sites daily anyway and it takes just as much time to visit all the sites as it does to go through the massive listing.

I would recommend that you make your purchase through paypal, that way if you decide in the refund period that it isn't for you, you can get your money back because the support people are  not available. In my opinion definitely an epic fail because they do not let you know before hand that they are merely supplying you with a massive listing of jobs from other people's websites.
